Conventional wisdom once said that you needed a mentor.
This conclusion, however, proved to be based on a typical mistake. The source of this wisdom confused a coincidence with a cause.
No doubt many successful people have had mentors. (May did not, something discussions always overlook.) But knowing that successful people had mentors does not prove the person succeeded because of their mentors. For all we know, they might have succeeded in spite of them.

Fresh off a deal that will keep 'FarmVille," "Mafia Wars" and other popular Zynga titles on Facebook for at least the next five years, the company has inked a partnership with Yahoo to bring its social games to the Internet giant's massive userbase.
Yahoo users will be able to access Zynga's games from the Yahoo Homepage, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Games, among other properties.
